Mechanical Engineer (CAD Design)

The Mechanical Engineer has broad responsibilities for the overall design of production line in Merrillville IN plant and for the development

of basic design engineering concepts to be utilized in the design of production equipment.

You will be creating, modifying and maintaining 2D and 3D models and drawings in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

In addition to drawings, you will work to create descriptions, BOMs, material specifications, and others. 

In addition, it is important to ensure that the vendors' specifications, inspection and QA requirements are properly captured and

noted on drawings and related communications.

Essential Function:

• Responsible for creating, modifying and maintaining 2D and 3D models and drawings using SolidWorks for internal use and verification.
• Participate in requirements gathering and detailed design
• Responsible for applying and utilizing correct and appropriate specifications and standards in the creation of all models and drawings.  
• Identify and effectively resolve  problems.
• Initiate, analyze and execute cost saving and product improvement ideas.
• Coordinate the efforts of other engineers, designers and drafters to produce required detail drawings, layouts, and bills of material.
• Incorporate proper materials, processes, and commercial components into new and modified product designs.
• ‪ Initiate and release for approval "Engineering Change Notices", including required information, drawings, and bills of material following established procedures.
• Maintain a standing with the industries that the Company participates in and maintain knowledge of completing designs.
• Submit regular reports on status of projects assigned‪
• Follow established safety procedures and quality standards. 

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related functions.
• Minimum of 5 years experiences in fluid piping system design, valve design, and pressure vessel calculations.
• Knowledge of Excel, Word, CAD, SolidWorks, Cosmos, AutoCAD and MathCAD .
• Understand and incorporate the knowledge of manufacturing methods including fabrication, machining, foundry, metal forming, etc. into the design of product lines.
• Must be customer oriented and have the ability to work in a team environment.
